The Power of Photo Images

On Monday you wrote a story based on a photo and begin to learn how photos can tell a story. Today you will focus on the power images can have on us. Examine the photo below and try to predict what was going on before, during and after the photo was taken. What ideas could the photo portray about the people in the photo? Write your response using complete sentences in comments instead of your blog. I will be checking your responses from home.

Before this photo Hurricane Katrina was going on.Because that is what was going on the news at the time when hurricane katrina. It is really a sad thing that happened in New Orleans. That picture is really sad because they paddled instead of cars and walking since the city was overflown by water.

I think that before the photo, there was a torrential downpour. While the photo was being taken, it was flooding badly. People were doing any thing they can to stay out of the water and not drown. After the photo was taken, homes, stores, and cars(maybe), were destroyed.

i think there was a tsunami and people were very sad. the people could also be thinking that how are we going to eat or where are we going to live.

in this picture it shows two people who are stuck in a flood. so they have a boat to stay above the water. also they are trying to get into land.
so they are trying to survive. so they want to be on land. they have to sail the boat to a dry spot. so the people are tryig to survive.

Before Katrina it was a beutiful city.During houses were getting torn down. And after the city was crooked and destroyed.

It was a sad thing because people
died in there own homes and died from the house being blown away.

Before this photo it look like a hurricane and a flood had passed by this town or state. During this hurricane it look like people weren't prepared for it.

After this hurricane or mostly in the picture it looks like many people had died and many others were still surviving without homes.

Some ideas i have about this photo is that it is sad and horrible. For millions or at least thousand people had died or at least lost their home.

When i looked at the picture I think the people in the picture were stranded after some kind of storm or something. They look like they are trying to get to safe area. The look on there faces says that they are very scared.
Before the picture was taken i think that they might have been in there living room watching TV and playing video games. They might have been sitting down with their family having a serious talk. But anything could have been going on.
I think that after the storm hit they were trying to get to safety. They gathered up their family members and went to go find a safe, dry place to stay until help came. They were probably thinking about what they were gonna do.
After the picture was taken i think that they were probroly still looking and then some time afterward they find something

Before this picture there was a hurricane. People probably got in there roof until all the water calmed down. During this picture was taken the people were probably trying to cool off, and trying to get some air. After the picture the people were all saved by helicopters and other world helpers.

I think that before the photo, there was a torrential downpour. It was probably drizzling at first. Then it started raining. Then it started raining harder, and harder. Before you know it, it was a torrential downpour.

While the photo was being taken, it was flooding badly. People were doing any thing they can to stay out of the water and not drown. I really feel bad for the people who had no homes. I also feel bad for those dudes on the boat.

After the photo was taken, homes, stores, and cars(maybe), were destroyed. Some people may have died from drowning. I glad I was not there, even though I can swim.

Before the photo was taken it was like an ordinary day when a storm hit where the people are living. The storm was so fears that it flooded they are. I think the storm came has a surpriser.
